For the New Age Movement, salvation is not just about saving a person's soul from falling and sinking into sin, but to gain a new "consciousness" of inter-relatedness with everything in existence. There are different names for this new consciousness, such as cosmic consciousness, God consciousness, God awareness, self-awareness, being enlightened or illuminated, etc. These kinds of ideas or techniques all prompt the human hearts to distance oneself from God. Romans 12:2 (NIV84) says, "Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is — his good, pleasing and perfect will."
Those New Age Movement believers are not asking for a repentance from sin, instead, they are just pursuing self-awakening afresh. It's a pity that they don't think it is necessary to pray to God, they rather substitute praying with a personal inner enlightenment meditation journey. As a result, they wrongly rejected the necessity of being born again from above.
Some New Age Movement believers say that there is no redemption in Christ. They mistakenly believe that the second person of the Trinity, Jesus Christ, was demoted and had become one of the many "cosmic Christs". These so-called "cosmic Christs" also included Buddha, Moses, Elijah, and Muhammad. The believers of the New Age Movement conclude that sometimes "self" could be elevated to the highest level, and self-realization could gain wisdom, power and happiness.
When New Age Movement believers seek to release their inner divine self, they follow the teaching from their New Age Movement literature and try to establish a false reality for themselves. No matter what kind of practice the believers of the New Age Movement did, almost all of them agreed to a central dogma: that there's no such thing as an absolute truth. They are misled to believe that all truths are just relative, and bewilderedly trusted that anyone can find "God" in themselves. Romans 1:32 says, "Although they know God’s righteous decree that those who do such things deserve death, they not only continue to do these very things but also approve of those who practice them."
Should children of God lose their vigorous spiritual life and the true teachings of the Bible, some of these spiritually hungry Christians could absorb false teachings eagerly as well. If you lack spiritual discernment, it could lead you to commit wrongful things along with others, resulting in pulling all into a big puddle of troubled water. You need to stay away from these wicked people. Let's ask God for wisdom and protect our hearts and minds. Amen!
