Luke 10:17-20 (ESV) The seventy-two returned with joy, saying, "Lord, even the demons are subject to us in your name!" 18 And he said to them, "I saw Satan fall like lightning from heaven. 19 Behold, I have given you authority to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall hurt you. 20 Nevertheless, do not
rejoice in this, that the spirits are subject to you, but rejoice that your names are written in heaven."
Our Lord Jesus is indeed Lord over ALL. He has power and dominion over all creation in heaven and hell. And when Jesus sent the 72 to minister to the people in the area, they did see the demons respond when the name of Jesus was declared! As believers, baptized by the Holy Spirit, we also have the authority to call upon the name of Jesus for miracles to be done. I encourage you to do so with wisdom and discernment. Pray for the Holy Spirit to fill you so that He can direct and guide you.
In fact, LoveSF is preparing a “March for Jesus” on September 18 in SF. There, we will proclaim the name of Jesus above all else! Even now, missionaries have been downtown ministering to the drug addicts and possessed. People have been turning to the LORD. Lives, physically and spiritually, are being saved and won. And this is because they have been declaring the name of Jesus and praying for healing. We can participate as well. We can ask the LORD for protection and to overcome the fear that can cause us to resist the opportunity to minister to those who have been afflicted by Satan. Let us not waiver but be bold! In fact, an Indian Pastor I know sent me this message recently, “Covid 19 could be all around you, but not touch you! That’s how powerful God is!! Ask Daniel in the Lion’s Den. AMEN”. This is certainly true. When our God is with us, nothing can stand in our way. Jesus does save.
To further reinforce this important Christian truth, Jesus taught the disciples to know and “rejoice that their names are written in heaven”. Did you know that your name is written in heaven, because you are a follower of Christ? Let us not get it backwards. Jesus’s name is not a magic phrase like, “Open Sesame.” We are the Lord’s first. Hallelujah! Knowing we are His children with our names written in heaven, let us then go forth and declare His name and His goodness. And then, the miraculous will be done. Praise the LORD, who is most worthy of praise!
